Metal shutters on commercial premises open and close many more times a day than those of a home, which causes characteristic faults that are worth identifying quickly in order to quote properly.

Broken straps or roller shaft

Wear on the straps holding the shutter to the shaft, or the roller shaft itself, is one of the most frequent faults due to intensive daily use. It shows up as the shutter hanging down on one side or jammed halfway, and repairing it is usually relatively quick if caught in time.

Worn tubular motor

On motorised shutters, the inner tubular motor has a life limited by the number of opening cycles, and on heavily used premises it can wear out sooner than in a home. Replacing it means dismantling the roller drum, so it is worth using the intervention to also check the condition of the slats and side guides.

Misaligned side guides

Knocks from loading and unloading vehicles, or simply wear from use, can misalign the side guides the shutter runs in, causing it to jam or come off its track. Realigning the guides is a common repair that should be checked along with the rest of the system before giving a fixed price.
