When a client wants privacy in a window or screen without bearing the cost of replacing the glass with decorative or factory-frosted glass, self-adhesive frosted vinyl is a far cheaper and quicker alternative to apply.

How it works

It is a translucent adhesive film applied directly to the existing glass, letting light through but blurring direct view, with a visual effect very similar to factory-frosted glass. It comes in different degrees of opacity and in designs with patterns or even text.

Advantages over changing the glass

It is installed in a matter of minutes, with no need to remove the existing glass or work on the joinery, and its cost is a fraction of that of replacing the pane with a factory-frosted or screen-printed one. It is also reversible: it can be removed if the client changes their mind, something decorative glass doesn't allow without replacing the piece.

Limitations to explain

Vinyl doesn't provide the same technical properties as a factory treatment (it doesn't improve insulation or strength), and its durability under prolonged direct sun exposure is lower than that of glass treated at source, so on very exposed exteriors it may degrade sooner.
