Made-to-measure dressing room: what the quote should include

A made-to-measure dressing room goes beyond rails and shelves. Which elements to itemise in the quote so the client understands the cost.

A made-to-measure dressing room is, at heart, an interior organisation project more than a simple piece of furniture, and the quote should reflect that complexity in clear items.

Basic elements that can't be missing

Hanging rails at different heights (long and short clothes), fixed or adjustable shelves, and drawer units are the basis of any dressing room. Beyond that, elements such as angled shoe racks, drawers for ties or jewellery, an integrated mirror and LED lighting with an opening sensor are upgrades that raise the price notably.

Open structure or with doors

An open-structure dressing room (no doors, walk-in closet type) is usually cheaper per metre than a closed one with sliding or hinged doors, though it requires the room to be always tidy, since everything is on view.

Why measure with the client present

The ideal space allocation depends on the type of clothing and accessories the client has (lots of long clothes, lots of shoes, lots of folded clothes), so doing the measuring and layout design with the client present avoids redoing the project after it's made.
