Not every window accepts the same type of insect screen, and choosing the wrong system is a common cause of complaints when the screen gets in the way of the window's normal opening.

Fixed or framed screen

It is screwed or fitted permanently over the opening, the cheapest option, but it permanently covers the window and has to be removed by hand to clean the glass outside. It is mainly used on windows that rarely open or on secondary openings.

Roller screen

It is retracted into a side or top box when not in use, leaving the window completely free. It is the most versatile option for frequently used windows, although its price is higher than the fixed one and it needs a minimum of space for the box.

Pleated and door screen

The pleated screen folds in concertina fashion to one side, ideal for large sliding doors or French windows, since it needs no top box. For ordinary passage doors there are screens with their own hinge, designed for frequent opening and closing without wearing out.
