Liquid membrane and asphalt sheet are the two most common waterproofing systems on site, and each has clear advantages depending on the geometry and use of the surface to be treated.

Liquid membrane: adapts to any shape

It is applied by roller or brush in several coats, forming a continuous seamless layer that adapts perfectly to junctions, corners and complex geometries where a prefabricated sheet would have to overlap a lot. It is the most practical option on surfaces with many details, such as terraces with parapets, planters or junctions with downpipes.

Asphalt sheet: greater thickness and mechanical strength

The asphalt sheet (self-protected or with a mineral finish) offers a constant thickness guaranteed from the factory, with good mechanical resistance to traffic and weather. It is welded or bonded in strips, so it performs better on large, regular surfaces, such as flat roofs without too many changes of direction.

Which to choose depending on the project

For small surfaces, with many junctions or irregular shapes (bathrooms, small terraces, planters), liquid membrane is usually more practical. For large surfaces of regular flat roof, the asphalt sheet offers more guarantee of uniform thickness and proven long-term durability.
