Lacquered and screen-printed glass are two different ways of getting an opaque or semi-opaque decorative finish on glass, widely used in kitchens, screens and interior design elements.

Lacquered glass: solid, opaque colour

A coat of coloured lacquer is applied to the back face of the glass, giving a fully opaque finish with the depth-of-colour effect characteristic of glass. It is very common as a kitchen splashback (replacing traditional tile) or as a plain-colour decorative panel.

Screen-printed glass: designs and patterns

Screen printing allows patterns, textures or even phrases and logos to be applied to the glass, with different degrees of opacity depending on the design. It is used both on bathroom screens with decorative motifs and on office partitions with corporate branding.

Factors affecting the price

The size of the piece, the number of colours in the screen print, and whether the design is a standard manufacturer pattern or a custom design are the factors that vary the final price most. Custom designs require preparing a specific screen-printing template, which makes small or one-off pieces more expensive compared with existing patterns.
