Choosing the right air-conditioning system determines not only comfort, but also how much building work is needed and how much the complete installation will cost.

Single split: the cheapest option per room

An independent split per room (one outdoor unit per indoor unit) is the cheapest solution to install and the easiest to repair if it fails, but it means several outdoor units visible on the facade, something many residents' associations regulate or limit.

Multisplit: one outdoor unit, several indoor ones

The multisplit system connects a single outdoor unit to up to 4-5 indoor units, reducing the impact on the facade in exchange for a larger, dearer outdoor unit and a more complex refrigerant line installation spread across several rooms.

Ducted: the most discreet option, the most expensive to install

The ducted system hides the whole distribution in a false ceiling, leaving only grilles visible, which gives the aesthetically cleanest result. In return, it needs enough false-ceiling height, more installation labour and coordinated air-conditioning and masonry work, and is the dearest of the three.
