Using standard plasterboard in a bathroom, or ordinary board in a boiler room, is a common mistake that compromises the durability of the partition or breaches safety regulations.

Standard board (white)

It is the cheapest and is used in partitions and ceilings of dry rooms: bedrooms, living room, corridors. It is not prepared for environments with constant moisture or for areas with high fire risk.

Moisture-resistant board (green)

It has a treatment that makes it resistant to moisture, although it is not waterproof: it is used in bathrooms, kitchens and any room with high ambient humidity, always combined with proper waterproofing treatment in direct-water areas such as the shower tray.

Fire-resistant board (pink) and technical boards

Fire-resistant board incorporates glass fibre that delays the spread of fire, mandatory in certain partitions under fire-protection regulations (plant rooms, boiler rooms, some escape corridors). There are also specific impact-resistant or acoustic boards for particular uses, dearer than standard but essential in certain projects.
