A garage floor suffers wear that no other room in the home has: vehicle weight, oil stains, damp and constant abrasion, so not just any paint will hold up there.
Why epoxy and not conventional paint
Two-component epoxy paint forms a much harder, more abrasion-resistant layer than conventional emulsion, as well as being resistant to hydrocarbons (oil, petrol) and easy to clean. An ordinary wall paint wears away and stains quickly under garage traffic.
Preparation: the key to the result
The floor must be free of grease and active cracks and, in most cases, a light sanding or shot-blasting is recommended to improve epoxy grip. Applying epoxy on a poorly prepared floor (with dust, grease or residual moisture) is the most common reason it peels off within a few months.
Anti-slip: an extra worth offering
Adding anti-slip aggregate in the last coat improves safety, especially on access ramps or floors that may get wet, and it is a small item well worth including proactively in the quote.
