Built-in plasterboard furniture (entrance, TV): how much a made-to-measure unit costs

A built-in plasterboard unit, such as a TV panel with an integrated installation recess or an entrance bench, is quoted differently from a standard partition because it combines structure, design and often hidden installations.

Structure reinforced according to use

Unlike a dividing partition, a built-in unit usually has to bear weight (the television itself, objects on top) or house installations (power and aerial cabling, integrated LED lighting), so the framework must be specifically reinforced at the anchor or installation-passage points, something that has to be planned before closing with board.

Design: recesses, levels and finishing

This kind of unit usually includes recesses with exposed edges, stepped levels or finishes with specific profiles, each of which adds assembly time and a finer jointing finish than a conventional smooth partition.

Why quote it as its own item

Treating a built-in unit as "a few more metres of partition" undervalues the real design time, structural reinforcement and finishing it demands. Quoting it as an independent item, with its own breakdown of structure, reinforcements and integrated installations, better reflects the real work.
