Installing a garden shed, whether wooden or resin, goes beyond assembling the kit you bought: the base it rests on and, depending on size, the permits needed are an essential part of the quote.
Base: the part that guarantees durability
A shed resting directly on soil or lawn sinks unevenly over time and encourages damp at the base, shortening its life. A concrete or paving base is recommended, or at least a bed of levelled sleepers on compacted gravel, sized for the shed's dimensions and weight.
Wood or resin: very different maintenance
Wood needs periodic treatment against the weather, like any outdoor timber structure, whereas resin (PVC or polypropylene) needs no painting maintenance and resists constant damp better, although its look is less warm than natural wood.
When a municipal permit is needed
Many municipalities require a permit, or at least prior notification, for sheds above a certain size, or depending on the distance to the plot boundaries. It is advisable to warn the client of this procedure before quoting, especially for large sheds.
